Signals always should be check with datasheet of particular display. 
Many times you can use datasheet of similar display and then check for example positions of GND(using multimeter) to be sure that signals are identical.
Usually GND pins are "fingerprint" of type of cable we must use with. Always check twice or more to be sure.
Signals are different for CCFL , LED, laptop and monitor screens, in case of wrong cable use, misconnection or shortcut we risk of burn display or electronic or both.     

Cable should be done by the same way, after soldering of black socket, some test with LCD, if all OK then black socket should be covered by hot glue to keep good electrical and mechanical condition.
