Timing -Control and panel driver.
On the tube TV technology, then that CRT can display images required:
- Def yoke: Requires pulses supplied horizontal deflection and vertical deflection pulse
- CRT: Requires Heater voltage, high voltage anode, Screen voltage and voltage Focus
- CRT module sockets: Requires image signal RGB, RGB Driver 180v voltage, and voltage 9v
This contrasts strongly with LCD technology, in which:
- So that the panel can display images required kinds and voltage control is more complicated.
- LCD panel discuss certainly can not be separated by T.con (timing control) as drivers of LCD glass panel whose content consists of hundreds of thousands of pieces of pixel.
- T.con is the key to how the image can be formed from the arrangement of the pixels on the glass panel
- On LCD models of the old - glass panels and T.con still separated, but thanks to technological advances in the manufacture of new models both have been made into a single unit.
- T.con needed to regulate the timing of "opening-closing" or "dark flame" each of pixels contained in the glass panel so as to form an image.
- T.con a regular partner with glass panels, so that the glass panels can not be installed or replaced by any T.con
- Each type of glass panel types of the different types require different driver circuits, as well as the characteristics of each driver is different, so studying the LCD panel driver becomes more tricky.
It should be understood that the glass panels or pixels can not be issued a "light" themselves. Each pixel of the glass panel can only be "open or close" so that the light from the backlight "can break out or blocked can not seep out".
- Pictured above is an example of how a pixel-drive in order to be life or death.
- Each pixel of each are driven by a FET is called TFT (Thin Film Transistor), which semauanya embedded within the glass panel.
- TFT are driven by pulses called GATE driver (or COLOUMN Data driver or driver) and driver SOURCE (or Row driver).
- GATE driver serves as an on-off switch that has a voltage with a variation of between approximately 0 to 10V
- SOURCE driver is the image data and has a voltage range between approximately 5V to + 20v (between Vof to Von)
- Output the bottom of the pixels are not directly connected keground, teapi associated with Vcom voltage magnitude exist in the midst between Voff and Von.
Broadly speaking driver panel blocks composed of sections called:
- Timing control.
- Grayscale plants (gamma).
- Voltage generator-drive.
- Generating all kinds of supply voltage.
EXAMPLE circuit T-con and its connection with LCD panel
EXAMPLE MODULE T-Con board old model
- Pictured above is a T-con board on LCD TV older model that still separated by a glass panel.
- T-con board there is usually located in the middle-top of the rear LCD panel, which is covered with a metal casing so it is not visible from the outside.
- Lower connector is connected to the digital module board or also called Mother-board using a special cable called LVDS cable
- The upper connector is connected using a "flat wire" through a glass panel to panel RSDS driver and RA
